Guide to dressing the Mother of the Bride/Groom
We asked leading designer Condici for some Mother of the Bride tips and advise on choosing the right outfit for your special occasion.
A wedding is just the excuse you need to dress up and there can be no more glamorous reason than your own daughter’s or son’s wedding – Bride aside, all eyes will be on you. Condici specialises in elegant occasionwear with everything for the total look.
The Condici collection consists of long and short dresses with matching jackets, coats, lovely skirt suits, with matching bodices and jackets; all beautifully brought together with stunning co-ordinating hats. Fabrics include luxurious silks in a stunning array of colours and elegant crepes in pretty pastels and bolder, bright colours. Condici has an outfit to suit every occasion as well as every type of figure.
For the curvier figure, you should make sure the jacket is not too short but covers your hips to create a longer, more streamlined silhouette.
A long jacket worn over a straight dress is flattering for just about every type of figure and is brilliant for disguising a larger bottom or thick waist.
If you are petite, then a more fitted shorter jacket can look stunning and will accentuate your trim figure.
A sleeveless shift dress with a jacket is always a popular choice because you can take the jacket off later in the evening when things begin to warm up. Take along a matching wrap to cover your shoulders if you are self-conscious about your upper arms. Alternatively, select a Condici outfit with a short sleeved dress.
How to look your beautiful best You will want to look elegant, and slightly understated, rather than trendy. Make sure your outfit doesn’t clash with the bride’s outfit or with what the other mother is wearing.
Dressing Tips Always select a hat that complements your outfit. Make sure it is worn on the crown not on the back of your head. Choose your outfit in a colour that suits your hair and complexion. Don’t be swayed by anyone else – you have to be happy with the final look.
